In certain aircraft with 12 day trips, it is possible to sell your vacation back, then, if you have a carryover trip, bid to conflict with that trip, which will drop your one 12 day trip. Then elect 0 makeup hours. You have just been paid for your vacation, plus 24 hours, yet you didn't fly for the month (well except the carryover trip).
I am just theorizing that this might be a good way to have your cake and eat it too, not suggesting that anyone should actually do this.

Leverage with what? I've seen AVA offered for about 7 months now in my seat and NEVER seen one VBB taken - not one! It's an insurance policy that costs the Company....nothing you moron. Not sure why they would ever stop except for optics.
But since you are on your whining high horse why don't you tell me how much VBB or AVA there was out there last August? How about how many guys protected min days off? Oh yeah - zero - there was no change year over year. Leverage means jack squat if you can't use it and we COULDN'T because no one wanted to. That's it - simple story. Whining guys like you wanted to say how much leverage they have yet never use it. Leverage matters during negotiations - not some made up period down the line when guys "might really get mad" and decide to use it. Pulleeze.

So you know your statements are fact? I guess you have a way, and time, to track how all seats dont do VBB? I also gather from what you say that you have the inside word that VBB is an insurance policy. Pure suppositional BS. And what about AVA.
And, leverage cant be used if one thinks they have a crystal ball and decides to vote no because their crystal ball says that collectively we wont use that leverage. Did you vote yes thinking "we" wouldnt use it? I used my perceived leverage.
And you call it whining. I call it factual observation.
