Tony, you just made my point. That is a hell of a lot of information to keep in ones frangible memory. I think it was easier and sensible to ask a quick question and see if someone could give them a quick answer. For all your talk about gonad size and chest hair, most of us don't use our intricate knowledge of ALPA emails as a benchmark to measure our manly quotient.

I don't know why you feel compelled to deride folks who used to come on here hoping you might weigh in on an area they had a question about. I suspect more and more folks are hoping now to avoid your self-serving intellectual braggadocio.

Instead of a detailed, fully researched rebuttal, a brief "I'm sorry", and maybe a condolence for the man's loss might be appropriate.....and would certainly go a long way toward rehabilitating what was once an admirable, but now significantly declining reputation.

Your peers/professional colleagues are trying to communicate you with a fraternal nudge. Seriously, my friend, take a hint.

In May, those e-mails contained what I consider to be important information.
  • The MEC Chairman told us they're hiring additional staff for the Contract Enforcement. We often complain about that function -- this sounds like an improvement.

  • Numerous Positive Rate Weekly articles articulated current achievements, focuses, and needs. Questions about FAR 117 have been solicited. Donations of Scope payments were solicited for the Hope House charity through the FedEx Pilots Charitable Fund. The Training Committee announced the development of a new training curriculum designed to help pilots returning from LTD. We were asked to help a First Officer in need by PDO bumping him from his trips. There is a Call to Action concerning the safe carriage of Lithium batteries. Our MEC Chairman appeared on the local news about laser strikes. Retirement Counseling Seminar Dates were announced. Schwab Executive Services Financial Consultants will be available to conduct individual Retirement & Financial planning sessions -- dates announced. The Security Committee needs a new chairman. 32 new pilots began Indoc on 2 May. We were reminded that Passover Pay is still governed by our old, amended CBA, and ALPA has filed a grievance concerning B-767 Passover Pay. The MEC Offices closed early Friday and all day Monday for Memorial Day. The change in when and how dues are withheld from paychecks was explained.

  • Secretary-Treasurer Zins told us the Scope Payment from December 2016 will be in the May 15th paycheck. He also explained how we will transition from paying our dues in arrears (a month after we receive the income) to paying them in the same month where we are paid the income. Finally, he told us when the second installment of our retro signing bonus will be paid and how it will be labelled on the pay stub.

  • June SIG Notes were published.

  • We were notified the ASAP Hotline voicemail was down. We were later notified the problem was resolved.

  • The ASAP Event Review Committee has observed a resurgence in errors on the BLUZZ One arrival and Runway 27.

  • The Memphis Joint Council Meeting was announced -- save June 9 on your calendar.

  • The MEC Chairman wrote at length about the problems with the B-767 simulator. 67S1 and S2 are NOT suitable to conduct ITU training, and the simulator techs lack adequate support.

  • Secretary-Treasurer Zins published a small correction to his previous message. He repeated that the Scope Payment from December 2016 will be in the May 15th paycheck. In explaining how we will transition from paying our dues in arrears (a month after we receive the income) to paying them in the same month where we are paid the income, he clarified that going forward from June 15, dues will be taken out of each check, both the 15th and the end of month checks, not just the 15th of the month checks. Finally, he repeated when the second installment of our retro signing bonus will be paid and how it will be labelled on the pay stub.

  • The MEC Chairman advised us that the MEC has authorized employing Segal Associates to advise us on retirement issues, and discussed the need to access actuarial data from FedEx.

  • A brief Memorial Day message and office closure times were posted.

All of the above was received by e-mail in May. If none of the above affects you -- and given that we all carry lithium batteries, I consider that unlikely -- you should probably turn off your ALPA e-mail. Otherwise, I think it's a better source of current reliable information than an internet chat board.

An-n-n-d Mr. Speedboat Captain / Ski Boat Captain (you keep changing your story)... nothing I said was designed, premeditated, fabricated, and intended to be provocative and inflammatory. Spare me the lectures about marginalizing.

Try reading the thread more carefully. Who said this?

... we can set up a time to play who's got bigger balls or who knows more about ALPA or airplanes or whatever the hell else puts hair on your chest...

When you claim that's too much information for your frangible (brittle? fragile?) memory, do you imagine that someone on APC has a superior memory so he can answer your questions? I don't claim to have a superior memory, and I wouldn't expect anybody to have all of those e-mails memorized. You're not expected to have your Flight Manual or Flight Operations Manual memorized either, but you should know where to go to find answers. In this case, knowing the answer is in an e-mail is all you have to know. Instead of asking a group of quasi-anonymous chat board participants, then waiting for an answer and wondering how accurate it is, I can just flip through a few old e-mails. It's quicker, I know the answer is correct, and I don't even need an internet connection. Win-win-win.

LOL.. I did give a quick answer. 5 minutes.

I thought I was helping.

Didn't mean to cause a ____storm by quoting the language from the recently ratified C.B.A.

disclaimer... I do read the ALPA emails and knew the exact date and the reason and the additional information about the dues and all of that..

But sometimes... brevity is what is desired.

Anyway.. I'll go about my business and try to look out for my fellow crew members.

y'all take care
