Obviously, that was tongue-in-cheek. Clearly there is a "reasonable man" theory in terms of giving them time to figure things out. I'm talking about the situations where CRS lets things twist in the wind for hours while being non-committal to any plan.

The voice of experience. Give them a chance to fill it in then call them and tell them when you think your duty day will end. A captain and I debated this as he wanted to get home and I already was. They slipped the show time 3 times in three hour blocks until I finally said My day ends at 2000 local. Then they tried to get out of paying for a stby period.
