Default Any SoCal commuters out there?

Since an LAX base is out of reach for a new-hire, does anyone have any experience commuting to work from SoCal? What's life like and what options are there for commuting to MEM (and/or possibly ANC?)

I live an hour's drive from ONT, 2 hours to SNA, and about 2.5 to LAX and SAN.

FedEx ALPA has a jumpseat finder which should help finding jumpseats to MEM (& ANC)

Hope this helps

Fairly easy on company aircraft - more seats than pilots almost all the time. Biggest problem is with long Jumpseat you won't have same "no harm, no foul" protection turning into trips that most other locations have. You'll still have it for most but maybe 30% or so you won't. Still, very doable. Getting off reserve quickly shouldn't be too hard with hiring.

Speaking of LAX commuting. Does anyone know if you can park your car in any of the Green Line parking lots for a few nights while you're out on your trips?

Aviationluvr,
You can leave your car in the FedEx lot. If you are deadheading out there is contract transportation to the terminal.
