ficone,
There's nothing better than being on the jet that services your home station (well, truth be told, there are better things, but for a new hire, probably not), for a number of reasons: 1) when you first check out on the jet, you can sit up front, while jumpseating to and from work, and learn bunches of stuff, some of which you shouldn't do; 2) you can observe those guys in the left seat to see if you'd enjoy working with them, or more importantly, if you wouldn't; 3) you could be called to operate a trip that you were scheduled to J/S on, into or out of your home station; 4) after two years, they will give you your own parking spot at your home ramp.... just kidding, but you will become very friendly with the guys at your ramp.
Best of luck. You'll love the Bus!
