Default Flex 5 Year Pay Average?

I ran into a senior FJ guy a few months back, and he led me to believe that 5 year guys were making $150k-$175k, but when I look at the real numbers, it seems to come up a little short.

5 year Phenom 300 pay is $550 x202 = 111,100
Per diem = 8,500
Fuel Bonus = 4,000
Fractional Bonus = 11,100
Work too much Bonus = 5,000

That comes out to $139,700.

There's extra pay for 12+ hour days and early showtimes, but I'm guessing it can't add more than $400-$500 a month max.

I guess that gets you to $145,000 or so, which isn't bad assuming those bonuses are attainable. Can anyone provide real-world insight to my numbers? Am I missing anything?

Your numbers are accurate. Theirs are based on getting a RL position. Not likely in real world scenario

Oh, for the love of GOD!

STOP including per diem in your pay totals. It is NOT compensation.

The "Work Too Much" Bonus only kicks in at 220 days I believe, so that would change your math one way or the other.

Also, if the company provides all your meals through crew meals or a company paid CC, then wouldn't it kind of make sense to include per diem as income?

Don't forget the special chin sauce. That's part of the benefit package too.

Do you want to include it on your taxes?

It is NOT income.

Pretend it’s found money and don’t tell anyone about it and if you eat your meals at White Castle then you will have even more.

You can order whatever you want on duty and get one meal on the company with very few questions except that you can’t expense alcohol. You basically have to be stupid to not eat very well AND pocket your entire per diem everyday.

The eating at Whitecastle crap is from someone unfamiliar with the meals program.

Yes I am very familiar with the snake charmers ways to dazzle and amaze you with all of the things that aren’t as important as pay.

Still not income.

I quit working for the snake charmer several years ago. But you’re positing that a FJ pilot can either spend their per diem or eat fast food. And that’s completely wrong. You’re going to get a free breakfast at the hotel, and if not you can cater it, cater whatever you want during the day and eat steak and lobster every night as a free meal on the company card. That’s a far, far cry from White Castle.

And I don’t give a rip about your semantics game. Per diem spends just fine every where normal compensation is accepted.

All I said is if you spend your money, spending it at white castle will allow you to have more per diem left over at the end of the month. You sure jumped on that statement quick and misconstrued it to something else.

Why not give everyone a $42/day raise and include it in income if all meals are already covered?
Because its a cheap talking point of “benefits” and benefits are easier to change or take away. It used to be $750/month. Now its not.

And some of those hotel breakfasts are Nasty, depending on the hotel of course.
