The reason NJ wanted it was becasue many of their pilots over 70 were on some sort of disability. To say Union wanted it is completely false. A simple google search shows "The NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots (NJASAP) fought the move, but an arbitrator rejected it and a federal court in Texas refused to issue an injunction against NetJets to stop the terminations. “Because the court concludes that the pilots failed to establish that any of their claims is likely to succeed on the merits, and this case does not warrant the exceptionally rare preliminary injunction under the [Railway Labor Act], the court denies the motion for preliminary injunction,” Business Jet Traveler reported the court’s decision as saying. NetJets was not required to set the retirement age, but it’s now permanent."

Dont let the facts get in the way of a good story. And for anyone wondering, Flex did not adopt the 70 age limit.

I’m glad you were able to use google to figure out how the last chapter of this book ended…. Maybe you can provide a google summary of the prior 5 years that lead up to today? Maybe even include the survey results from NJASAP surveys?

In the end the union had to represent the members that filed grievances….

What are some of the advantages and disadvantages to flying ILC?

To add to that, how many aircraft in the ILC fleet and what types of aircraft?

Are all Challengers considered domestic red label?

That's an extremely subjective question
Every person that were to answer this question is going to have their own advantage or disadvantage

Challengers are Domestic Red Label

G450's/650's and whats remaining of the Global's are ILC
Don't kow how many total, I could go look at the Ops Spec, but I don't feel like counting
There are a lot of 450's, a bunch of 650's and just a few Global's that are soon to be departing the fleet.

Up to 14 hour days, ~3 legs a day, no days off on the road... That sounds pretty agressive. Do y'all feel like you're working too hard? Or perhaps with all those hours, you get some overtime bump over base pay to make it feel worth it?

I've been doing a lot of 4 leg days on the Phenom. It's harder work than the airlines but, I'm just not nearly as fried after a 4 leg day here as I was after 3 with the airlines. The logistics at Flex are light years ahead of the airlines. If something needs done, it's generally done--changes are pretty much a non-event. Most days are 12-ish on duty which isn't a lot different than AA.

At Flex, at the end of the day, I'm tired and ready to go to the hotel. At AA, I was tire and ready to quit because of the rampant incompetence or bureaucratic inertia that prevented me and my coworkers from doing their jobs efficiently.

YMMV

Lol. As is typical for airline unions (working closely with management to screw a small subset of the members), I'm guessing the NJASAP leaders wanted the old guys gone as badly as the company. Benign indifference at a minimum.

You need to come over to DRL and work life will greatly improve. Get on a CL300 so you'll do mostly Sentient trips, which is much easier IMHO. DRL captain pay, making your own schedules, no more witchy schedulers like LC, easier (mostly shorter) days, and more predictable.
The Phenom side is a constant beatdown and burns people out.

Bose a20/30’s are great (I wear them on 4-5 hr flights with no problem. The batteries will last me a month). Some guys have the ear bud versions, and they’re happy. Clarity aloft has a similar setup which seems good as well.

uflymike has a nifty setup, but there’s some nuances you’ll want to look up first.

whatever you do, don’t show up with the green earmuff’s (unless they’re the pro small version).

Bose A20 seem to be the standard. Lightspeeds are fine, though they seem to be optimized for recip/prop noise. I even know one guy with Dave Clark ANR headset.

The Challenger has dual GA plugs. The rest of the fleet has the 6-pin LEMO plugs (I believe the Phenom has both kinds). So whatever you buy, think about adapter(s) for changing fleets. Also, having Bluetooth capability is nice for phoning Center or Flt Service to pick up IFR clerances from backwater airports.

If your budget is tight, check eBay for used or refurb'ed ones. Or, if you already have Bose QC35 or 45 wireless headphones, you could look into UFlyMike, Avee, or Nflight.
