Default Pilot school + swim team

My son was talking with UND about a swim scholarship. Then UND cut its swim team.

So he's looking for a professional pilot school with a Div I or Div II swim team that's somewhat affordable.

He's looking at ASU but the swim team is incredibly good and his chances of making it are fair to slim.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Does location matter? You could try browsing through the different schools that have aviation programs here: Federal Aviation Administration - Pilot Schools - then researching whether or not that school has a suitable swim team for your son.

Purdue? I know they have flight, and being a Big 10 school, I'll go out on a limb and say they probably swim.
While IL divested its flight program a couple of years ago, it still operates under auspices of the local JuCo (Parkland?); I believe that it's still academically partnered with IL for degree programs--worth checking out anyway.

Location matters only for tuition purposes - it its one of the WUE schools it's a lot cheaper.

He did send off an app to Purdue; so far no response.

We're looking but the intersection of affordable tuition+professional flight option+swim team is pretty small....

Being a student athlete and taking flight training at the same time is very difficult. Between 2 a day practices and the short winter days one is going to have to take priority.

That being said St. Cloud state in MN as well as Minnesota State Mankato both have programs

I dunno, man; flight was neither the toughest nor most time consuming classes I took. Unless you're trying to CFI by your junior year, it's manageable.

thanks guys. Keep any/all suggestions coming.

I'm not too worried about my kids; both will work like the devil when they're into something - and won't if not.

So if he chooses to go go for his commercial license and swim at a Div I school, he will probably take 5 years but hey, he will love every minute of it.
