Looking for a school for PPL -- ATL south
My son has begun to show some interest in aviation. I'd like to get him into a light single and see how he likes it, and possibly follow up by earning his PPL. Looking for recommendations for schools on the south side of ATL.
Falcon Aviation immediately comes to mind since it is close and fairly large; however, my son is 15 and I don't want to commit to paying $9500 non-refundable up front when he can change his mind about what he wants to do day to day, or even hour to hour. Ask me how I know: reference daughter and the college tuition sized pile of cash I already paid for her gymnastics that no longer interest her...
I know most instructors are just there to build hours for something greater. That means some instructors are really effing bad, but there are definitely some good ones as well. Looking for somebody who was happy with their instructor and found a school/individual with some flexibility in both programs and aircraft available. Nothing fancy required, I learned on a PA-28 with a single VOR and no DME, I don't need to pay extra for a glass cockpit and full IFR/GPS suite. Aircraft must be in impeccable condition with an excellent safety record.
Thanks!

There is a flying club in Thomaston GA (KOPN) which is less than 50 miles from you if you're in Fayetteville or PTC and way less than that if you're toward Griffin with a really nice C172 with a Garmin 430 and a Lynx NGT-9000 and a STEC 30 autopilot.
$400 buy in, $70 a month, and $75 an hour wet which you can't beat with a stick. Even with the buy in you'd still end up cheaper than flight schools if he ends up quitting. And they have a CFI on staff.
