Default Mei

I am a CFI/I and have my Comm/Inst Multi-Engine Check-ride next week. I'll be teaching in a Duchess this summer near Seattle and will need to get my MEI obviously before I start. I am in school right now finishing up spring quarter.

I plan to get about 10 hours multi PIC then head over to the place I will be working and get my MEI in the plane I'll be teaching in.

Sorry for the long introduction, here are the questions:

What was it like earning your MEI?

Did you make a notebook, if so, what did you put in it?

What was your MEI checkride like?

Tips or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

download the "flying light twins safely" manual..I cant remember if it is an advisory circular or not....also go to this link..http://www.aviatorlibrary.info/Initial_CFI.htm and print out most of the duchess stuff....trust..but verify..some of the information is incorrect.

Learn, study, and become one with Vmc..do not just memorize it (rote) learn it to the correlation level and beyond.

I am far from a multi expert by any means but I have 120 pic in the duchess and did my initial cfi in it so I have some current knowledge on it...what did you want to know?

Have an understanding on the purpose of the the Vmc demo, factors of Vmc, ME Aerodynamics, the drag demo maneuver.

It is a good thing that you are doing these add-ons pretty much back-to-back Mista. The information will be fresh in your mind. At that point, all you will be doing is learning how to do touch and goes from the Right seat of a twin...its cake...

Don't bend any aluminum... that's a big one on any checkride!

Good luck with your MEI!! Mine (many years ago... yikes i'm old!) was all of .7 worth of flying and 3 hours of ground. It's an easy ride, you'll have fun.

Dang...you're lucky! My ME Comm ride was 1.7 w/ a 2 hour oral, and me MEI ride was 2 hours w/ a 3 hour oral...

However long it is Mista...just have fun.

Cheers,

Yeah, my CMEL ride was like 1.3. We did power off stalls, a Vmc demo, half a steep turn and a few approaches. Sure seems like a cake walk now.

i think i figured it out actually... what they mean by "IFR multi" is if you already have ur SEL instrument... if you dont already have it in a single engline then you have to get that training as well.. and THAT is the "multi instrument"? just guessing too tho.

.. if what i said even makes sense. lol
