Default Getting your CFII

I'm about to start training for my CFII. What is the checkride like? Is it anything like the CFI initial but with instrument sutff?

Any CFI checkride could be your initial. The initial is whichever CFI ride you do first. Most do CFI-A, some do CFII or MEI.

Once your initial is done, subsequent rides don't have to cover FOI (although the examiner could in theory get into those).

I guess I should have mentioned that I just completed my CFI initial checkride last week. I am just trying to feel out what I could expect from the CFII checkride as far as duration of the oral portion, FOI, etc.

*Typically* it will be shorter, with few/none FOI, and more laid back. If you use a different examiner who doesn't know he, he might dig deeper.

Awesome! Thank you for the insight, I know that its very examiner dependent but I am glad to get a general overview of what to expect! Thank you
