Hey I was wondering if anybody on here has attended the actual flight training program at Utah Valley State College in Orem. I know many people use them to get the online degree, but I was looking into the flight training at the college itself. The flight training costs look cheaper than many big name flight schools.

Are they still cheaper than an FBO? You get the same ratings either way.

Don't think they are cheaper than an FBO, but I think the flight training costs not including tuition are around 40,000.

I was thinking about doing online courses usvc as well as flight training. I live in Tucson AZ abd would do my flight training at an fbo that has a partnership with usvc. How ever usvc wants 160 per credit hour my local cc offers a flight course as well which I start in July and its only 65 per credit which to me is a gigantic difference the down side is cc only offers 2 year degrees and then if I choose goto a four year college. Usvc is an all in one. I do not plan to pursue a four year degree i'll just be content with getting pp to cfi.

I actually just graduated from there, and to be honest, their flight training is lacking in many ways. They have had some problems with previous management, so I got strung along between part 61 and 141, and many promises were made about how they were going to make it all up to me by providing acrobatic and glider training "just for fun." I completely felt like I was being treated like a high school student rather than a customer paying 30K for training, which is unfortunate. I ended up having to switch over to an FBO for my commercial training because they were unable to provide an instructor for me (even though the director of the program promised to be my instructor if no one else was available) after all they threw me through.

Now, I'm sure that every flight school has their strengths and weaknesses, and maybe I was just an anomaly, but I got the feeling that their program is catered to someone who wants to be treated like an insignificant child rather than a high-paying customer investing in a career.
