Default Any Advantages on taking this?

As some of you guys know i go to ERAU. This summer I will be taking a CRM course, and later in the fall semester I will be taking Airline Flight Crew Techniques and Procedures, which is taught on a CRJ Level 6 Sim. Is basically 40 hours of ground training and approximately 30 hours in the FTD with various missions, etc. Im just wondering if shelling out the money $3,500 taking this course the fall semester will help me overall, or should I just opt out of this, and just let the airline train me from scratch? since ill probably be one those lowtimer guys sitting next to you guys.

*Im in ERAU on a Sport Scholarship, so I just pay for my Flight Training out of my pocket, and i was just thinking on using that $3,500 towards my CFI/II...

You'd be better off putting that money towards a 737 type, buy some multi time, or get your instructor rating as you mentioned. I never had any formal airline training before I was hired by an airline. It's required by FAA, so you will get it for free someday. I don't think it will give you any advantage in getting hired anywhere.

$3,500????

The ripoffs in flight training never cease to amaze me....

No less amazing are the people who fall for them. Buy a rating or some twin time if you need it. CFI/CFII/MEI should be a high priority at the entry level.

Double check with your advisor to see if you can even opt out. Your catalog may not allow it and you may have to change majors.

Just looked at my year catalog, I have to take it! Thanks for the responses; just wanted to hear from another perspective. I will be doing my CFI/II aswell this fall so I will be extremely busy. I wish I can change majors, but Im graduating next spring, and im to far ahead. My minor is Flight Test Simulation, and I got another minor in the process (Business), and a Real Estate License. G'night!

change majors?....change colleges and save yourself the money, its not gonna get you ahead of anyone by going to erau. You would be better off at any fbo combined with a state school. The rj courses are a huge waste of money, let the airlines pay for you to learn how to fly the jet when you get there, they are required to do it anyway. $3500 is half of a 73 type at higher power aviation in dallas, that should be the only jet time you pay for....ever.

I dont pay tuition at erau, just flight training. Whereas if I went somewhere else ill have to pay tuition, plus training.
