Question Accelerated flight training - how is it?

I'm a current full-time college student who is majoring in business. I really don't have time to do flight training outside of my breaks and because of that, I am now considering do the 2-3 week accelerated flight training program at Thrust Flight in Addison, TX. Has anyone here gone through these programs? Can you vouch for them?

Thanks in advance.

IMO accelerated is the only way to go as someone who took 23 years to get their private, but only 2 weeks to get their instrument rating after it taking that long for the private. Go accelerated.

As someone who is currently going through PPL training, IMO 2-3 weeks is not plausible for most people.

My understanding is to be eligible for this program, you must first have passed your written test. That means studying on your own (since you have limited time to meet with a CFI for ground instruction) I would think passing your written test without ever flying would be difficult.... or to at the very least passing with a good grade. (You want to score at least 80% and up)

Assuming you do pass the written test and get signed up, I do not think a person would retain much skill flying that often. You would be flying ALOT within those 2-3 weeks. At the height of my training I was flying 3-4 days per week. There is ALOT being thrown at you. At a certain point your brain just kind of turns to mush. Ever taken a Mini-Maymester in college? (A full semester in 4 weeks.... I have and it is pretty intense...) This would be a Maymester on steroids.

If doing the 2-3 week acceleration is the only way for you to get your PPL then I guess give it a try, but remember... this is not just cramming before a final in college (I did that a lot), you want to retain all the information you are learning for your PPL. You want to be a good, competent pilot so you do not kill yourself or any others.

Obviously take everyones opinions with a grain of salt (Including mine). Thrust Aviation has a lot of youtube marketing. Not saying they are bad school (I have no actual experience with them), but I feel the way they market the whole "get your PPL in 2 weeks" is a little deceiving. I have a degree in business management and getting my PPL has been way more difficult than getting my college degree.

Good luck!

To finish it in 2-3 weeks you basically have to have everything go as planned (which rarely ever happens). Weather, maintenance, etc... Now 4-5 weeks is certainly doable. I did numerous PPL students this summer and finished them in 4-5 weeks. Starting training with the written and ground study already done is a huge help and will make those few weeks of training a lot less painful for you, as at that point you won't be learning everything for the first time but just putting "pen to paper" so to speak.

It took me 4 years to get my private then joined an accelerated program and got to CFII in 5 months. It was a no brained really. I couldn’t have done it any other way.

FYI we've tried to shift our marketing to advertise it at 3 weeks more than 2. 2 is really rare especially at this time of year when weather makes flying every day a rarity. And you should know it is going to be tough. We do ask that you come having already passed the written and you are going to be flying every day that we can get you up. The primary goal is to make safe pilots of course, and to do that in 3 weeks requires quite a commitment. In our experience the best results come from people that become just obsessed with it. If you took a discovery flight and fell in love then this is for you!
