Default Northwest Flight Service Spokane - thoughts?

I'm a very rusty pilot (20 years out of the cockpit) and looking to get back into professional aviation. I am looking at the Spokane area as a future home and was looking for a good flight school. What I want to do is get re-current on all my skills up to the commercial/instrument level and then get my CFI and go to work. I want to get it done in less than a year as I have all the time in the world to work on just flying. I called Northwest Flight Service at Felts Field and spoke to one of the instructors. He didn't seem to have many answers about how much time the instructors there could dedicate to my objective, or even if I could possibly go to work for them after getting a CFI. Has anyone got any info on NWFS? First-hand experience would be the most helpful. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
