Default Foot in the door

I'll get straight to the point. I know there are multiple paths to becoming a pilot. Collage isnt an option because my grades weren't good enough and I have insufficient funds. I was looking into ATP and was going to take out a loan but upon adding it up I found out that the intrest rate would have me at over 100,000 by the end of the first 5 months. If anyone found sucess without taking the collage route or has any suggestions Im young and stupid and dont know where to turn, please help.

Spending $100,000 at ATP and not getting a degree is dumb. There are 2 year schools you can get into even if you didnt have good grades in high school. Go to a 2 year school and bust your a$$ to get good grades. Get your ratings at an FBO, it's going to be less expensive than ATP or an aviation university. After you get a good GPA at the 2 year school then transfer to a 4 year and get a degree. Without a degree it will be impossible to get anywhere besides a regional if the industry take a turn again. Most major airlines still require a 4 year degree anyway. While you are at the 2 year school make sure you also learn how to spell. It's "college", not "collage."

Anyone can get into community COLLEGE. Get good grades the first year and you can transfer to a 4 year school. It would be in your best INTEREST to get a degree. You make it even more difficult trying to be successful in aviation without one. Very rarely in life do shortcuts work out for the better long term.

I advise against huge loans for flight training in this industry, because the industry does not warrant loans for a job starting at $16,000 a year before taxes. It would take many years just to break even. Don't do it guy. Go to collage... collidge...cawlitch etc. and take flying lessons in your spare time. That's what I did, and I have a bunch of certificates with no debt on them.
