Fuel Burn Multi Engine
Does anyone know how much fuel either a BE-95 Duchess or PA-44 Seminole burns per hour?
I am looking up prices for multi engine airplanes, and I have an option of renting an airplane from one FBO at a block rate of $185/hr, or from another FBO at $120/hr dry. Fuel is about $4.50 a gallon, but I can find it for about $4.10 elsewhere.
Basically, I would like to know how much fuel it burns per hour in cruise, and about how much you would expect it to burn doing an hour of touch and go's.
Thanks.

According to my good ol' (and dusty) Seminole POH, it burns between 8 and 12 gallons per engine per hour, depending on the power setting. 20 per hour in a training environment is probably a good number to use.

I don't know about doing the Duchess or doing touch and goes, but here's what the Seminole information manual says:
Perf cruise
55% - 17.4 gph
65% - 20.4 gph
75% - 23.3 gph
Econ cruise
55% - 14.0 gph
65% - 16.6 gph
75% - 19.2 gph
I usually flew it at econ, it's only like 2 knots slower.

Best economy fuel setting. Engine runs hotter, but burns less fuel. Also you have a little less power, hence the slower speed. You would need to check the POH to be certain, but usually, best economy is attained by leaning to peak EGT.

Go for the block rate wet.
I rent a 2002 PA-44 for $130 dry, but after landing and fueling up, it usually ends up being around $190-215 with fuel costs for an hour of flight. Plus paying for a/c rental and fuel separately is an annoyance. You have to watch power settings more when you gotta worry about paying for fuel.
Youre gonna pay out the *** for twin time no matter how you look at it, just make sure you go out and enjoy your time while flying it!

There are different Manifold Pressure and Engine RPM settings for all altitudes from SL to 14000' or whatever.
For ECON (55%) at 6000' it might be 18.6"hg and 2200rpm
For 75% at 6000' it might be 21"hg and 2300rpm
