Did my first solo cross country today.

I finally did my first solo cx today. Good weather finally. Routing was KTPL - KAQO - KAUS - KTPL. It took 3 hours because I spent a while at LLano. It seems easy now. Even though I had a GPS, I had to pilotage because, the left side of the GPS which showed the map was inop, all I had was the heading info, ground speed etc. Got more familiar with using a sectional chart now. just waiting to fly my night flights, and moving on. Pictures are from ground at LLano (KAQO). Enjoy.

Congrats! I know you were frustrated with the wx the past couple of weeks but the solo portions of the private course are always the most frustrating part...it seems like you never go when you are available. Get the rest knocked out and start prepping for the checkride! Good job!

Congratulations! I remember my first SXC like it was yesterday...what a blast! THAT'S when you finally start doing what flying is all about...going somewhere! Good luck with the rest of the training, you're almost finished.

Enjoy these flights. Make them a challenge and try doing one or two without ever turning the GPS on. Pilotage and dead rec aren't that difficult to master and many of my students were amazed at how accurate they could be. You'll learn much more without the box.

Hey Longbow...Congrats on the accomplishment! Like many have said, I remember my first solo x-country fondly! A lot of nerves but at the same time, some of the most exciting and enjoyable flying. Keep plugging away and enjoy your solo time!
