Default Phoenix East Aviation?

I recently came across this flight school through another online aviation forum? Has anyone visited or attended this flight school?

I have not personally attended this school, but I have spoken with a friend of mine who is a current Dash8 pilot for Bahamasair and he found the training to be of excellent quality. If you have any specific questions I can ask him if you like.

I went to Phoenix East in 2002-2003. I did my multi-engine rating, my CFI, and CFII there. I also flight instructed there for a little while.

I truly enjoyed Phoenix East. They are a very decent flight school. The aircraft were not new, but they were safe and operated well.
The instructors and staff were very friendly and helpful. I was never overcharged for my flights or anything like that.

Perhaps the only thing I did not like about them was that sometimes they were so busy it was difficult to schedule an airplane. This was really only a problem when I had to use the complex airplanes for CFI training, since they only had 3 when I was there. Other than that, they had a fairly large fleet. That was 4 years ago though, so it may have changed some.

i did all my training at phoenix east. It is a good school for the money. Cheaper than most and very professional. There was a problem getting planes sometimes. They are getting a whole new fleet of diamond twin stars soon. I wish there were there when i did all my multi. I would have loved to fly twin stars instead of 25 year old PA-34's. The only problem i had with PEA was that if you are american they wont get you thru as fast as the Non-Americans. 75% of the students are from Norway and the rest are from all over the world. When i was training there was only like 10 americans in the whole school. And since the Non-US citizens are all on visas and have limited time they get the priority for stage checks, flights, and checkrides. Sometimes i would wait over 3 1/2 weeks for a stage check or checkride. Plus my instructor was a stage check pilot and they would cancel my lessons so other ppl could do stage checks. Its a really good school if your are on a Visa but if you american, plan on it taking way longer than they will tell you to finish up. Plus they dont pay well at all for instructors. 10.00 hr and 12.00 hr if your a stage check pilot. But for the money i would say its worth it if you can stand to be around a bunch of norweigans for a year and a half.

I've also heard good things about PEA. I got a friend that did his training down there and he said it was a good school and really affordable compared to " other " hot shot schools...wr u gonna pay a lot more for the same.

good luck
