How hard was this sucker for you guys? Tuesday after my job interview in Dallas I'm driving down to Houston to work on it. How crazy is this thing? Also, as I just stated, my interview in Dallas is on Tuesday. I had also applied at the place where it turns out i'll be getting my CFII in Houston. How rude would I be, or how should I ask, that I wait to hear from the other place? They already have my resume and were looking at it. This will also let me check out the facilities while there. Would you find it rude to say something along the lines of, "I'd like to thank you for calling me in. I must say I like your opperation very much. I do however have one more interview in Houston that I need to attend after which I'll contact you shortly." I'd really like to find away to check out this other place without offending them. It's just that it's much closer to my home with friends and family ect.

 

I prefer someone who is honest, professional, and courteous in their manner / speech. Especially if they are going to be working for me...I don't think you are being rude or unprofessional - be honest and move on. I would however, mail them a thank you note in writing immediately following your visit. Then when they call - you can explain the situation and instead of 'get back shortly' give them a date / time - it will look much better than the ambiguity of 'shortly'....

Yea i just dont know exactly how long the CFII is going to take me.

 

I spent 3 hours doing my II (just to meet the 3 within 90 reg ). If you are a competent instructor and instrument pilot, I should not take you too long. Conversely, I have seen people spend 40+ hours working towards their II.

A big determinate will be the reputation and preferences of your instructor and examiner.

I did my II as my initial CFI at the Fort Worth FSDO about a month ago. I studied for about 5 weeks, but probably would have been fine with a couple of weeks of intense study. I'm guessing that if you're a current and competent instrument pilot, the add-on should be no sweat after a few hours of review.

 

I have my CFII initial coming up soon over at Alliance as well. Any tips? Care to give me the run down?

 

I studied for a month, worked at it with a couple instructors for about 5 hours in the 10 days preceeding the ride. Did two flights. Oral was about an hour and a half, flight was about the same.

There isn't a 3 in 90 requirement for an additional instructor rating.

TD: Be honest. If you are waiting to hear from another, tell them so. It's the right thing to do. I had an interview with a place in Houston where they offered me a job. Really nice guy but I asked for a few days to wait and hear from where I'm currently working because I'm closer to home. If MVP Aero is where you're looking they seemed like a good operation and the owner couldn't have been more friendly in my conversations with him. Had the circumstances been a little different at the time I would have accepted the job offer.

 

I wasn't current when i took mine. In fact i had'nt flown IFR in 2 years. It still took me less than 5 hours, and was the easyest check ride i ever had.

 

Guess it really doesn't matter now does it? Hope you don't waste the money on it.
