Default Help with internship

I am a senior at ERAU and need some help deciding what internship to do. I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. I have narrowed it to CAL, UAL, or UPS. I was leaning toward UPS, but i have since heard that an internship there does not do much good toward getting you hired there early. Does anyone have any guidance here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey pass by the career office and check out all the internship/ theres a few on for corporate flight depts too. Im also a senior at riddle. And from what Ive heard and seen the best internship is CAL, and UAL. If you know Fasano; He did the CAL internship this summer.

Just applying, but there are not many people applying this semester and i was told i should be able to get my choice. But i will probably apply to at least 2 of them just in case.

Yeah, i figured anyone from Riddle would get a kick out of that. Bri, are you doing one this spring?

An internship will not generally get you a job at a major right out of school. However, some have a an interview guarantee. NWA will guarantee you an interview with CPS or Messaba once you have minimums. I graduated from ERAU in 98, did a CAL internship. I was a tremendous benefit in interviews, especially later. who ever you go with, network like crazy. get to know all the CP's and IP's you can.

You heard right, there is no preferential interview for UPS co-ops...all UPS newhires must meet the minimum experience qualifications. It is also a one year commitment and you'll have the opportunity to do things most "interns" at other airlines will never see or do. It is an excellent experience and likely will help you get an interview and hired once you meet the requirements.

If that's not for you then don't apply...I'm sure there are plenty others that would relish the opportunity; I wouldn't trade my year there for anything.

I know a few folks that interned at CAL and have gotten hired with 2000-2500 TT and no turbine PIC...and with NWA and UAL hiring again I'd imagine their internship programs would be the same way. Whatever you do, don't waste your time interning with a regional.

Good luck whichever way you go...

Thanks for the info.
Yeah, the regionals are hiring just about anybody right now. I know people who have been hired with only a few hundred TT and less than 50 multi. I would love to do the UPS internship, especially since it is paid, but i just dont have the year to do it. I guess it is between the majors now... Thanks again for the input.
