I have never done it, but have heard that it is really really boring. However, it is a good way to build time if you dont want to be an instructor.

Yeah, boring is right. Kinda dangerous and you don't really learn much IMO. 'Course I wasn't doing beach flts at 500' gawking at the girlies....maybe those jobs would be better.

why is it dangerous? Because of the low altitude in case of an emergency?

Not boring when you are diving in to pick up the banner. Myrtle Beach, SC has a few operators, lots of flying during the spring/summer season.

Basically continuous slow flight with all the extra drag, just gotta be careful. I did mostly ground launches but the airborne pickups were kinda fun.

It's dangerous because you're low, slow, with a big piece of drag behind you, not to mention many of the towing operations use aircraft that are long overdue for serious maintence. A good friend of mine spent the summer towing banners, and he felt lucky to leave with his life. He had engine trouble on numerous occasions, lost an engine once, and said the aircraft was held together with duck tape. I'm sure it'll put hair on your chest, but it still doesn't compare to instructing, in which you learn the info yourself better than you ever could have without teaching it to someone.

Just like most pilot jobs, you won't make much. I made 10 an hr.
