Free A&P while CFI-ing
#1
I am interested in getting my A & P license while working as a CFI. I have heard there are some larger universities that will give full time CFIs tuition breaks for working there. Anyone have any info on schools that offer this scenario, and have the A&P curriculum?? Thanks.

i haven't heard of anyone giving away a free a&p but you could always apprentice while working at a small fbo. If you work under the supervision of an a&p and get two years of experience, that a&p can sign you off to take the required writtens and o&p's. It takes quite a bit to get your license and most places will want you to make a commitment if they apprentice you. Your best bet to get it done the fastest would be to go to a part 147 school.

Never heard of that kind of program but I would jump on that if the opportunity presented itself. We had a few guys do that where I instructed but with the current hiring something tells me you wouldn't have the required time to get your A&P before you are hired by an airline (if that's what your going for). Goodluck.

I would imagine most do something like that. Universities generally offer tuition deals to ALL regular employees, including professors, cooks, and janitors.
