Default Intro Flight

Hey everyone. To all of you seasoned airline pilots out there, this may not seem like a big deal, but today, I had my first intro flight in a Cessna 172 with G1000 and all that. I LOVED IT!!...sorry....... Okay, how was your' guys' first flights, did anything weird happen? On mine, we suddenly lost the heading indicator on our G1000, my instructor hit it and pushed a few buttons and we got it back. We also got some traffic warnings where the instructor said it just picked up our own aircraft on the sensor...?

Strange that you mention it, today I gave an intro flight and my passengers really enjoyed their ride (husband and wife)... until we got back to the pattern and some guy in a multi wasnt making calls and we had to avoid him... then he proceeds to fall in line as he should have anyway since I had right of way - following way too close, then landed behind us and made a CLEAR runway incursion...almost like he had the "tailgating" car mentality only in an airplane... absolutly ridiculous and dangerous

Yeah, you have to watch out for the stealth fighters out there. Sometimes the TIS will pick them up. Had it happen yesterday. Of course there was an EAA breakfast at the field and severe clear...

Congrats on your new journey. You'll experience all kinds of emotions regarding aviation from now on. This is probably not what you want to hear, but if at all possible try to do a lot of flying in aircraft that aren't G1000 or Avedyne equipped. Learning the basics of flying is very important. Learn to fly a cross country with a sectional before you begin to rely on the GPS. You gave the perfect reason for flying a basic airplane before starting to learn the glass...Instead of focusing on learning how to fly the plane, the electronics malfunctioned and that took away your attention from the aircraft. Not that it was unsafe, just that you needed to be up there on your first flight playing with the plane, beginning to learn the feel for it, not learning the design flaws and ins and outs of a G1000. I'll get off my soapbox because my opinion really wasn't even asked for. Good luck with your career!
