Hello everyone, my name is Jose Velasco, I'm a SGT in the Army performing as an Air Traffic Controller. I'm about to get an honorable discharge and looking for a flight school to continue my flight career. I have a foreign license, commercial SEL with Instrument rating and 150 logged hrs.
With my introduction I also have a question to see if anybody in the forum can help me out. As I said before my FAA PPL is base on a Foreign Commercial License with Instrument rating. If my Foreign license expires, will my FAA PPL become invalid until I renew the Foreign license or take the PPL FAA written and check ride?
Thank you for your time and hope to her from you as soon as possible.
Respectfully,
Jose

Your foreign based license will not be valid without the foreign license itself valid:
(FAR 61.75)
If you still have time on your foreign CPL, you can get a U.S issued commercial license and don't need to get a US-tested Private license first.
