You will get out of the PPL FLIGHT course only. You will still have to do the PPL ground and in fact everything else will be identical. As for the GPA conversion, ask your guidance counselor.

if you go in with your PPL, then you get credit for the flight AND the ground courses... i just graduated and about 1/3 of my class had their PPL and they werent there in the ground school...

You would have to test out of the ground if you go in with your PPL. Otherwise you have to retake the ground. "Everything else" means the 4 year curriculum.

Purdue School

I got into the flight program the hard way. I went to aviation admin first, and then transferred over. I had a 3.9 GPA and Dean's List before I was let in. To get in right from high school the average GPA was 3.8. These stats are from 1997-2000 however.

Looking back, yes it was a good school. Would I do it again, no. Fly on the side while getting a real degree to back yourself up in case your flying career tanks. I've seen too many guys get furloughed or medical out and have nothing else to do. Just my 2 cents.

I looked at Purdue back in 1988. They were much more of an engineering degree with emphasis on flight. My math is okay but not enough to survive an engineering type program so I went to Southern Illinois University instead. Their program was more business orientated. Back in the day, SIU placed more interns with UAL than anyone else. I know that doesn't matter right now. I'm not sure about the program now but I know as recently as a few years ago they had interns with DAL, UAL, AMR, UPS, to name a few. Internships are as valuable as gold so go with a program that has a ton of these. That's how you get your foot in the door.

for sure im going to get myself a second major if i get into purdue but if i dont get in i will mostlikely do flying as part time to get my ratings and major in some other field besides aviation. im just really intersted with this schools flight program. all the other college with aviation doesnt seem as good unless if you guys have any other good recommendations?

Nope. Boiler Up!

And DAL4EVER, the program today is not as engineering oriented as what you describe in 1988.
