They only hire full time instructors, and there are no benefits given because you are technically an independent contractor, so they don't have to supply that. I get Blue Cross/Blue Shield for only 130.00/month for my health insurance.

It varied somewhat, but I flew anywhere from 75-100 hours a month. There were times that I flew 120+ hours a month. I CFI'd for ERAU in DAB. Worked 6 days a week (we were required to take 1 day off). Students were there and handed to us from the team manager. No having to play salesman, which was nice. Usually around 8-10 students each during the Fall/Spring semesters.

I am an instructor up in the NE area and I have been averaging about 50 hours a month. 30hrs Lowest. 80hrs Highest. Since last July I have built up about 700hrs. It all depends on what kind of a student load you have when the slow season hits. If you can maintain a few of your frequent fliers during that time its a little bit more tolerable. If you are having trouble getting students try some light advertising.
