To ATP'ers out there - your advice needed..
I'm planning to start flight training with ATP around August - September (not PFJ! ), and trying to decide between their Daytona Beach and Dallas (Arlington) locations. Which would you recommend (in respect to flight traning and housing)? Also, which location would be better for weather between August and approx. February? From what I heard, in terms of weather Florida is excellent for flight training, but what about the hurricane season? Obviously, I don't want to be held back by weather..
And another thing, ATP's website is pretty specific about the dress code for their students (white collared shirt, dark pants), though a friend of mine told me he was wearing whatever was comfortable for both flying and ground school. So, what's it really like?
Any advice is appreciated!

I have no experience with the Daytona location, but I do have a friend who attended the Dallas location. Lets say there performance was less than steller there. I attended the PHX location, and made it through without busting a single checkride! After seeing so many different locations on x-countries, I atleast know which ones to stay away from. Long Beach, Riverside, Sacromento, Dallas, were the ones I went to on x-countries that I was not impressed with.

I flew at the Jacksonville location, and I was happy with how things went. Part of it depends on the instructor you get, the maintenance and weather things (all sometimes beyond your control). The Jax location happens to be the company headquarters, so I think things are kept on a much shorter leash there than maybe the other locations, because the higher-ups frequent it much more. Maybe consider that location.

mshunter, thanks for heads up about the Dallas location. Daytona Beach it is then! )
As to Jacksonville, I did hear that they keep things on a tight leash there. Some people warned me to keep away

I did the 10 month out of BWG. I probably had the least amount of fun being at CRG on x-c, and CFI "school". Dallas was ok because of the apartments at the airport, and I don't mean the cubicles they have for the overnight people on x-c. Downside was I didn't have a car and if i wanted food I had to go the the fbo across the parking lot and sweet talk with the hot girl to get her to let me borrow the rental car, but that wasn't a bad thing though. Gave me something to do.

Jax from what i saw keeps a pretty tight leash, but on the same side gets things done. I didnt like FLL when i did my multi engine initial, to much traffic. You always have to be on special high alert, should be very alert anyway but sometimes a cessna will just sneak up on you. The places i liked were BWG(which is where i trained), Panama, the alabama location.

Has anyone heard about or been to the ATP locations at SAC and RAL?
I toured the SAC location and found the guys there to be quite informative. (Of course it's probably because they're hurting for students in this economy) They answered my questions a lot more than the folks at the FBO there, which surprised me (the FBO part at least).
ATP did tell me that they don't do MEI at SAC, and that I'd have to go to VGT for that.
And do they let you do some ratings at one location and transfer to another location? Like if I had a long summer before the next year of college and did a few ratings at, say, RAL and then finished the program with SAC?
