Having said that, however, I think I am a better pilot if I can avoid getting killed while flying in busy airspace. I'll continue to fly out of BFI, but will try the outlying airports just for a change of pace.

I don't know much, if anything, about Galvin. The only comment I heard from a classmate was that it is incredibly expensive, even more expensive than Wings Aloft.
Personally, I think learning to fly under the class B veil at an airport with lots of big jets was a great experience. I feel a lot more comfortable in busy airspace because that kind of a training environment. The Blue Angels were also awesome-- watching them land and take-off from the ramp is better than watching the Seafair performance itself, in my opinion. A great motivation tool for new pilot!! However Airforce 1 used BFI when I was training there, and this put a huge dent in everyone's training schedule. We couldn't even leave the building for fear of getting shot at. But overall, a great place to learn to fly.

Yes, Galvin is expensive for students. But you are going there to CFI, right??

Me? No, I have no intention or desire to do anything but fly for fun. I know my limitations - I am a better lawyer than I ever will hope to be a pilot. My goal is to purchase a small Cessna and just buzz around the sky.

I know HSLD is going to have a violent fit if I start a new thread, so I'll do it here. I was wondering if any CFI in Seattle or Tacoma would PM me. I have an idea which I'd like to bounce off of you.

If you want to get killed in busy airspace, try Bremerton. Lots of airplanes and no tower. People landing on opposite runways, overflying the field while jumping is goin on, deaf student pilots, it is a lot of fun...[/QUOTE]

How do you know the pilots are deaf?

Hi is standing in front of me as I type this. He is a student at the flight school that I work. On his radio calls, he says "trasmitting in the blind" meaning that he can make radio calls, but he can't hear calls to him.

oh, I thought you were talking about the deaf student who was on TV and in the papers a few years back. He learned at Wings Aloft.

That's crazy.... but anyways, I have been doing a lot of research and there are some good places up there to Flight Instruct. I am wondering though if someone from the area would let me know when does the winter time start over there. Also, how long does the crappy weather last? I'm all about getting in the clouds and getting actual but it would be nice to know cause I know winter takes a toll on CFIs (Money wise) Plus I would be arriving Seattle probably during Jan. Well whatever info would be appreciated.

Winter starts around late October here, at last for an IFR pilot seeking actual.
Wings Aloft is always hiring but the pay *is* the worst in the area for flight schools. *however* they have one of the best ground schools and seminar programs in the area and the largest fleet.
Good luck.

and I would say the crappy weather lasts until about april.... there are no real solid streaks of sunny weather until july usually. By the way what is the Wings Aloft fleet like?? How many ME aircraft?
