Surprisingly, ATP does a fair amount of PPL training for non-career pilots at their SAC location. They fly G430 equipped 172s. Their instructors are young, and all are bound for corporate or regionals, but they do know their stuff.

I don't work for them, this is just what I observed while doing an add-on rating there.

The Sacramento ATP location is a good one. I am currently a student there.

I havent seen any G430 equipped 172s though.

This is how I felt early on in my training too. My first instructor, though good, was not as structured as I would have liked. Once I found a place back at school that had more structure I actually felt that I was learning (or at least retaining) more. Come to find out - that second place trained very much like the military did as I learned later. Such things as primary instructors with "off-wing" flights along the syllabus to check on standardization and progress, plus a second (or third) set of eyeballs to offer a different opinion or technique.

Sorry my post doesn't add to the discuss about which flight school to chose in the Sacramento area, but maybe it will shed some light on different types of training packages.

I will quickly add to that too.

I came from a flight school where you fly once or twice a week, and do ground once or twice a week. Now I am at ATP where you fly or sim everyday, and are putting what you are learning into use. This very structured, yet laid back environment is doing wonders for my learning. I feel I am learning so much more in this environment.

Sky Walk, Inc. Flight Training - Home

I wonder if someone from here can make a recommendation or suggestion or what school to use.

Thank you in advance,

I used CFI INC at SAC for a CFI re-instatement warm-up. They are in the Terminal Building just above Exec Flyers. I would recommend them and the name of my CFI was Craig Owens. Great guy!
Carter is also top notch.

Absolutely untrue! Carter has been around for many years and you don't last long if you are a flake.

I don't work there but do rent from them
