Air Japan for example requires a "Jet Command Type Rating", which I interpret as PIC Jet Type. I am at this dilemma too..

If you have a 727SIC type why not just do an upgrade course and get a 727PIC? Then you don't have to learn a new A/C, it takes less time, and less $$$.

Yeah, one of them is moving from the right seat over to the left seat.

I'm in the same boat. I thought they wanted a turboprop type as well.

multiple GA types do not help either...got a form letter saying they want "transport category" type ratings...

Another "cheap" type to get would be for the C-525 Citation Jet. It is good for the entire family of CJ's (CJ1, CJ2, CJ3 AND CJ4). LOFT in San Diego offers it for around 7K I believe.

Anyone been at LOFT ? Looked it up and they look very interesting.. Not that Im in a position to pay or will I pay for a type rating unless an operator sends me for the training. However, if I wanted to get the feel of flying a jet first time ever, it may be the out fit of my choice .

Well that might ruin my day... by "transport category" are we talking a number of seats, or weight? I am currently waiting to upgrade on this dang Beechjet so I can apply... I wonder if I should start saving my pennies for a 737 type.
