For all we know, that left mag could of been acting up. Check 91.3 and get back to us.

Long story short, you were not there and you do not know the full story. Until then, dont jump to conclusions (ie, calling the person a jackass).
Now that's really amusing... Left Mag acting up?? HAHAHA.... Clearly you didn't see the video my friend... which was a couple of minutes long where the pilot flies along with himself and 2 passengers at around 2 feet above a national wildlife refuge at 120ts... With music jammin in the background the pilot blasts across a highway and several cars barely clearing their rooftops. I didn't need an altimeter. 500 ft? He wasn't even 50 feet away from the cars either vertically or horizontally.

91.3? Ummmm.... No... Not Applicable..

Shame on you.
He was certainly endangering his two passengers. Passengers who may have not understood the risk.

I was very sorry and disappointed to see the type of response that I did from so many of my fellow pilots on this forum. There is a reason that GA has such a disproportionately high rate of accidents compared to part 121 or part 135. Condoning or encouraging behavior like this certainly does nothing to improve our safety record -- or insurance rates for that matter... Let me ask you this question: Would you show the same complacency if your son or daughter were in the aircraft with this pilot?

Well if he keeps it up he'll Darwin himself out of the population... Just hope he doesn't take anyone with him.

If you crash/land in the everglades it can turn into a life and death situation quickly. Heat, sun, no drinkable water, boars, alligators, snakes, mosquitos.... obviously not too smart.

You are however comparing apples, oranges, and maybe even a tomato.

Let's compare 135, 121, and 91 to their other world components. Lawn-care trucks, big-rigs, and everyone in a car.

Big-rigs have the best per-mile safety record I'm sure(no facts, but. They do the most miles, etc..etc... The lawn-care guys don't put on a lot of miles, but they do have to have DOT numbers for anything pulling a trailer(including a pick-up truck). The rest of us, well we just get along.

Honestly, would I do the scenario if it was my child. I'm not a parent yet(That'll come in Feb!), but would I do a low-level flight over open water, or I should say would I do another one when I have them with me, just something I would evaluate on a case-by-case basis.

I'm from the school of live and let live, not the school of thought where people should be over-bearing.

Amazing, Ricky rescue coming to save the day. Thanks for keeping our airways safe!

Just curious what state your from, we don't have to in NC. I have been told about some crazy laws like that in CA.

Not disputing your argument just curious about the dot numbers thing because I am the former owner of a lawn care business.

You can't violate something that is not regulatory.

Didn't see the video, but careless and reckless covers pretty much anything.

Mainly what I know is what falls for farm exemptions. We don't have to have a DOT medical unless it's a truck/semi plus a trailer combo, and technically pick-up's and any trailer that equals 10,000 or greater you have to have the medical, but regardless we do not need to have the actual CDL.

I had a contracter redo my bathroom, and his service truck is over 10k. He was pulled over by DOT and told that he should have it numbered because of that etc..etc..

Like I mentioned, I only follow what I need for our farm operation, and just put together the pieces on what I've gathered from seminars hosted by the DOT for the other parts.
