CFI-Instrument & Multi-Engine Required?
All,
I have been reading about all the requirements to pursue a career with the airlines. But I am a little confused.
I have looked at three different Part 141 school's website and they each have their own "professional pilot career path" program.
However, of the three schools I have researched, only ATP includes CFI-Instrument & Multi in their price quotes. FlightSafety Academy and Aerosim do not.
So, are these two CFI ratings a requirement or just something that is nice to have?
I have googled for an answer but have frustratingly ended up empty handed. Seems like something that would be so easy to find out.
Thanks for any help!

Required by who?
They're definitely not a requirement. People make it to the airlines without them, and even without a CFI at all, frequently.
But, they do open yourself up to more opportunities. More flight time that is more valuable (multi time, probably more high performance/complex time too). They'll make you more marketable for flight instructor jobs, possibly allowing you to command a higher salary as well. And, for when the time comes that you get to an airline interview, you'll have more on your resume and more stories to tell the interviewers.
So, long story short, no, you don't have to have them... but I recommend them strongly.

It's also somewhat hard to get by without the CFI-I because it limits your usefulness to a school and few will hire you without it. But if you freelance or find a niche school you can get all your time without the CFI-I.
The MEI is less of a requirement, but it can save you a ton of money and a couple years if you can land an MEI job vice buying 100-200 hours of twin time.
Yes.
