Gulfstream Academy
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had any information about Gulfstream Academy? I currently am at another flight school in FL which I will not say due to the fact most people hate it lol. I am currently free of debt and can stay that way at this current school so that is not a problem but was wondering if Gulfstream is everything they promise. I am currently only 19 and know I could work for them but could I move to another regional? How long would it take? I mean any info would be greatly appreciated!

I agree. Either finish your ratings at your current flight school if you have the money, or just transfer to a local FBO. Spend the money that you would spend at Gulfstream getting a bachelors degree. This is VERY important. A bachelor's degree will more than likely earn you over a million dollars more than not getting one.
The reason for that is if you don't get a college degree, your career will probably end at a regional making 90k a year. If you get a college degree, you are much more likely to end your career at a good major, making 150k+ a year. Don't trade a little money now for A LOT of money later on.
Good luck.

Gulfstream does offer a great program, and i know man people who have gone and have nothing but good things to say about it. They've all been hired on to other regonial airlines now. Many of them had 3 or 4 job offers before they finished their 250hr period. However, tied to gulfstream there is a negative stigma with it in the industry because it is a PFT. Gulfstream will get you to a regional job faster than instructing, and it will get you better experience as far as the 121 world is considered. But there is also some great things you'll learn by teaching. Its up to you

Thanks everyone for the great advice i mean it really was all good advice. I did a search on this forum and some others and think i have a better idea of what I want to do but will probably tour Gulfstream just to get a better first hand idea of what they can offer. Thanks again!

Like you said de727ups, I cant understand why PFT is still an acceptable practice. Maybe its cause us younger guys are part of the 'now' generation and some seem to want things without waiting. The whole thing seems like a scam almost, i would rather be an indentured servant at mesa than PFT. Plus that is one of those stigmas you can never shake, although not everyone you come in contact with is going to know about I guess. Misguided is what it boils down to I think.
