Veteran needs info on Transpac
I am wondering if anyone has attended flight training at Transpac in Phoenix, AZ? I'm planning on going there to get into the biz.
About me, I'm a 27 year old single father and a Marine combat veteran currently building parts for Curtiss Wright. The training is roughly $70 and the VA is going to pay about $30k of that. Also I may be in with "FlyJavelin" which will Shell out half if i can come up with the other half (not including VA funding). So I need to get roughly $25k of my own money up front.
I already know that there are cheaper ways and what many post about these kind of "fast track"schools, but i need to make an investment in my future and in my current circumstances this is the best way to Achieve that. this has been a dream of mine for a long time and finally have the Motivation to make it happen and any advice will be appreciated.

Good for you man, I'm also a combat veteran and CFII at KDVT. You should message me. I'll tell you all the goods and bad things about Transpac that I know about. Have you considered Westwind across the parking lot? They are cheaper and are part 141 as well. They also have airline training type syllabus.

I was in the Air Force for 6 years as a crew chief, and while on active duty I got all my certs up to CFI. After I got out I went to work for Boeing flying UAV's overseas. I flew them for VMU 1/2/3 alongside 2/3, 2/5, 3/4, & finally 1/8. I just got back from Helmand in August, finished my CFII and got hired on as an instructor at DVT.
It's treating me well so far. I have one student right now while I finish my MEI, then ill get more after, so things are looking good!

From somebody on the inside. Avoid Transpac. The end product is weak due to the 'puppymill' mentality. Looks like you are doing add'l research. Whatever your choices, good luck and keep us posted.
Essayons.

There are a lot of fast track schools outside of the Phoenix valley. If you are able to up and move your family. I know of good programs in Florida for around the high 40's to 50k. That accept the va bill. All the American students that I talked to at transpac seemed to be happy with the training they were getting but no doubt you could do better on price elsewhere.
