Default instructing at the best flight school

Hey all. CFI/II/MEI here. I haven't instructed for 3 years and am looking to dust off the cobwebs and build some quality time to take the next step of getting a FO flying job. Does anyone have any recommendations of current hiring at a great flight school? I'm shooting for an instructing job that contains the following:

-good pay
-lots of flying (mostly multi and instrument if possible)
-good group of instructors (and students)
-decent fleet
-good mx
-mostly year round flying

It sounds like it might be a pipe dream flight school lol

Thanks,
Bons

US Aviation Academy is always hiring but I'm not sure where you live or if you are willing to move which will probably be the first thing anyone trying to help you needs to know.

EDIT: I say always, I mean for the foreseeable future in case someone resurrects this thread in like 5 years

willing to relocate and not particular to any certain region...just looking to find that "gem" of a flight school!

I'm aware of SOME of the larger Florida and Arizona schools that are good for time building jobs but not recommended by current instructors working there...

I know several people who went the Florida large school route. Their feedback on the students and airplanes made for some interesting stories. They did built time quickly and could fly all day and every day.

Maybe look at a flight school tied to a university/college? They tend to hire from their own graduates, but one also might appreciate your experiences. Pay will be low, but you should get a good fleet, lots of flying, and motivated students.

Last thought would be cold calling FBOs or keep looking on job boards and forums for something steady.

I think ultimately you have to decide how important "quick" time is to you, compared to how much you like the job and QOL.

If you are interested in moving to Central Florida, I would recommend Aerosim Flight Academy. Especially if you are trying to get a job as an FO at a regional. There are plenty of students available. However they are Chinese, but there are a lot of them. I myself have attended the entire program there and instructed there and currently work at a Regional flying the CRJ700 and CRJ900. Aerosim has many flow through agreements with regional airlines such as ExpressJet, Envoy, Endeavor, Silver, Republic etc. A lot of these airlines love pulling from Aerosim because the school mimics an airline very closely. Their indoc process and hiring process mimics an airline process. If you are interested in the regionals, it is a great insight of what is to come. Many regionals come to Aerosim and hold on sight interviews. It is how I got picked up by a regional.

Pay is also good but it is based on experience. I believe its 18/hr and tops off at 27/hr. don't quote me on it.

The fleet consists of Cirrus SR-20, C-172, PA-44, and the PA-28(for cfi training) The mx there is impeccable. The mx has received certain safety awards from the industry.

You will be flying year round, and if you are not lazy, you will be in a regional in no time. Expect 85-95 hrs a month if you are not lazy and work hard. There will be days where especially in the summer where thunderstorms will be an issue. Primarily in the late afternoon to early evening.

check out their website and if your in the area pay a visit.

Hope this helps.

Default CFI Job Openings

Epic Flight Academy, a Florida based international flight school that is located right next to the beach, is almost always looking for qualified CFI's. They actually just posted a job opening out on the job boards. Check out their pilot career center here- Pilot Career Center - Epic Flight Academy

I hope this helps!
