Default Anyone else have this problem

So the flight school I want to go to isn't affiliated with a college but it is VA approved...my question is this...would it be more beneficial to use my Post 9/11 towards a degree and pay out of pocket for my flight time, or to use it towards the flight time?
I know the regionals want a degree of some type but I'm not sure which investment would be more logical to use my GI Bill for! Anyone out there ever run into this and if so...what was your choice! Thanks!
PS...if there has already been a thread about this I apologize...I did try to find some info but didn't come up with what I wanted!

Compare the in state tuition costs of your chosen school to the annual limits of vocational flight training. The answer will be "use it for college and pay for flight training out of pocket" every time.

My suggestion (if you have or are planning on having kids) would be to sign it over to them and allow them to use it for college, when it'll be worth more.

If you can afford it now, pay for it now. Treat it like an investment.

If you are spending it on yourself (or kids) you will almost certainly get more out of it from college. For the flight training, they treat it as vocational. Every $10K equals a years worth of GI Bill. So unless a year of college costs less than $10K, it's a better deal.

As to saving it for kids, I think that's the best bang. However, who knows how long this great deal will be around. They are already tinkering with it in the current NDAA.

Find a flight school that IS affiliated with a college degree program. Kill two birds and get it paid for by the VA. Although with the way some of the flight schools have been abusing it there's no telling how much longer this will be an option. This is what I'm doing. 2 years, 2 associates degrees and all of my ratings through MEI with the majority of my time in a twin.

Also, if you go to a school approved by the FAA, you could get your restricted ATP at 1000 hours with your bachelors. I'm transferring to a school that is FAA approved and they're going to accept all my flight training since it's all being done to 141 standards.

Why not do both? Get some type of aeronautics degree with flight ratings. Everything is 100% paid for.

If you are dead set on going to this flight school, we can't really answer your question because we don't know what the Tuition for the 4-year degree will be.
