Cool

Having done most of my training with ATP I will say that they do have some serious issues... vs8viking - I totally agree with you on Jim... They are not the best when it comes to customer relations/customer service.

However, I did just finish the RJ Class about a week ago and ALL of you are taking this completely the wrong way. It is NOT a certification class, they are NOT teaching you how to be an ace in a CRJ, and for alot of people this is not a waste of time..

I will admit that I did take this mostly for the reduced hiring minimums, but I definitely learned alot that will help me when I get to ground school... I do agree that the FMS part of it is kind of a waste of time since the FMS is very easy to use once you spend about 20-30 minutes with it... As for the FTD time, I learned a whole lot... People like me who have limited experience with faster aircraft can get overwhelmed when moving up to bigger and faster aircraft... And anyone who has instructed knows that time in a 172 does not really prepare you for flying regional jets. When they say "jet bridge course" they mean that this class will help you to adapt better to the fast pace and enormous amount of information that you are expected to keep up with in ground school.

To those who are genuinely interested in this class I will tell you this, the RJ program is a whole different side of ATP. I had a great time, the instructors are all very knowledgeable and willing to help, and I learned a whole lot. With that being said, dont go into this class thinking that its a sure thing to pass... you have to put forth the effort before hand to study profiles, flows, procedures, and the systems modules... This class is not going to teach you everything, but give you a broad understanding of what you will be learning in ground school... Take that for what its worth...

I have to wonder about this program too. I am also contemplating doing it. I am 39 years old with 3 kids.....I have 650TT and 250ME.
I think that, since I have been out of the classroom/study environment for so long, this program would serve several purposes:

a) prep my mind and body for long classroom days and long study nights. It would help me "get used" to the routine that I would have if hired.
b) I know that the minimums have been reduces dramatically in the last few years and that I may now get considered based on my numbers...but, I think that I would have to get lucky. I'm sure that airlines have hundreds and hundreds of applicants. My thought was that since they have an agreement with ATP and graduates of this program, at least you know that you will get looked at. The agreement, at a minimum opens a door for you. Otherwise, a resume could be lost on the bottom of a 10 foot stack.
