Default TransPac New 11 hour work day policy

If you are thinking about going to TransPac take this into consideration. NO SALARY INCREASE EITHER

"we are going to make a change to this policy to better align with industry standards by moving to an 11:11 policy. Effective on 6/8, TransPac’s duty day will be a maximum of 11 hours and our rest period will be a minimum of 11 hours as well."

It usd to be 10 hour duty day and 12 hour rest period for 28k/ year now it is 11 hour duty day for the same salary

Just a heads up for any CFI's thinking about joining Transpac

Oh the horror! When I was at Aerosim in FL we would routinely pull 12-16 hour duty days with 8 hour rest periods. I don't think I've ever been so chronically exhausted in my life, and I have commuted to reserve at the regionals

If you want a 46K salary with 8-10 hour work days (most are 7-9 hour days honestly) then PM me. I hated Transpac and have since been making almost triple the money between my full time job as I've described above and doing side work.... Yup, an instructor truly can make some good bank if you don't settle for the bottom of the barrel. Just my .02

Im sorry, but I have got to say something...

To anyone who thinks this guy flyboyxc91 might actually be knowledgeable of this industry, think again... Lets not forget this thread that he posted last July. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/fl...onus-sign.html
In less than a year you went from transpac fan boy, to hating it. From recruiter, to disgruntled ex-employee. Huh.... I wonder who saw this coming? lol.
Oh! but wait! you have a new gig you love so much and want to share with us, that also oddly sounds just like the BS you said about transpac oh, I dont know, 11 months ago!!! hahaha

Thanks for the laugh!

GrassLandings,

You're right.. I was a very very zealous and eager WET CERTIFICATE instructor that honestly didn't know much about the CFI INDUSTRY at the time... I've logged about 600hrs dual given since then, gotten my gold seal, and make three times the money I started at with a much better job that I'm trying to enlighten people about.

It's no secret that there are jobs paying 40-60K in the valley as an instructor who has >250 hrs dual given... So you just keep your pay scale and quality of life right down there where you must be.

Once again, Im feeling deja vu here.... Everything you say sounds like a paid recruitment add, and so I guess you could say Im calling you on it. If you are offering free PM's about some great job offer to the public, then people need to know you might be full of ****. I for one hate guys who make employers sound like heaven and then turn around and stab you in the back. You know why? Cuz this isnt my first rodeo bud, Iv seen it all before. I hope that maybe I can prevent some poor sucker from taking your advice.

I love my job, you have no idea what I do and how much I make, but nice try.

Dude you came in here at me... But since it's all about your "rodeo" rounds I guess you've taken it pretty hard.

I've only been around this "rodeo" as you call it one time.. So yea I guess at my young early twenties making what I make for the work I do.. Well I'll just say I'm lucky and happy.. I'm glad you are too

In 15 months I worked there it went from being paid to volunteer to work a 6th day, to a mandatory 6th day (only 1 total), and back to getting paid to work a 6th day. Either way didn't really matter to me because I usually tried to work a 6th day for the extra flight hours. It's definitely a get your hours and get out sort of gig but you get a salary (around 36k for MEI if I remember), sick, vacation etc and they will take you with zero dual given. I was never pressured to fly there by management, in fact I was grounded a few times due to Wx when I wanted to fly. It's not the best place nor the worse, but a little above average I think. As far as the increase duty and decrease rest, there's a good chance you would have been staying that long anyway doing a debrief or something. If I finished my missions for that day early, I left early. The min rest is only what they can schedule you for. Most of the time I had more than this. Most of the people focused on getting the hours to move on probably won't notice much of a difference day to day. If your looking to instruct after retirement the flight school over at Goodyear would probably be a good option since they require more experienced CFI's and pay 50-60k a year salary. You could also go to Westwind. They let you build your own schedule there which is a blessing and a curse, personally though I preferred Tpac over Westwind.
