Hey guys,

I had a question about visiting Dubai before an interview and what you would recommend seeing. My goal is to leave around the second week of March and bring the wife so we can see if it would be a good fit for us. What do you think we should go see, experience, or otherwise visit while there? The whole purpose of this trip is to get an idea of what Dubai is like and if we would want to move there if successful in the interview. I appreciate any help you can provide and all the help that has been given so far!

Hey, I have been shortlisted for a month now. How long does it take to get an interview after you're shortlisted?

If you are going for that purpose then you want to visit areas that pilots live. Silicon Oasis is where the majority of pilots live now. There are other areas spread throughout Dubai. Have to check out The Marina area and Jumeirah Beach Walk if you think you'd like to rent an apartment on your own. If you have kids you need to look at the American schools near the Mall of the Emirates. Both Dubai American Academy and American School of Dubai are near there. Best to make appointments at both.

Rent a car and drive so you can get a feel for how bad people drive here Check out grocery stores and other every day living type things. Get someone with the EPC card to take you to some of the facilities we have access to, beach clubs, gyms, etc.

Go into the old part of the city on both sides of the Creek and take an abra ride. Try out the Metro for getting up and down Sheikh Zayed Rd. You can ride it right to the Emirates HG.

For those who have gone to DXB for an interview, how long prior to your interview date did you receive travel arrangments? Thanks.

Thank you for all of the advice! I will be sure to check it out, just maybe not the driving. I feel like I can experience that in a taxi
