Default Cathay and FAA Written Scores

Hi folks -

Just wondering if it would be smart to re-take the ATP and Instrument written (I scored 81 and 85, respectively) if I were to apply to Cathay. I hear they take those scores into account. Is it worth the effort, or will they see that it is a re-take anyways?

Thanks!

Default it doesn't cost much

I wouldn't apply to any carrier with less than 100% on either. It's not that hard to do a second time. If they ask you why you bothered, tell them you knew you were capable of doing it and wanted to put your best foot forward.

They want to see test scores even if you have the rating already?

That's what I've been told... not first-hand knowledge, however.

Yes, they need to see your written results which you will have to get from the FAA. It isn't CX that needs it, it is the HKCAD that does. I got an 85% on mine and I'm in week three of class here at CX so i don't think they really care too much about it. They're going to ask their own questions anyway so concentrate on those.

Most of the crazy stuff they ask for is not from them though. It comes from the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department. You could always re-take it but I don't really think it matters.

Good luck
