Africa CRJ Arik Air Opportunties

I talked to Protec about the 900 over there...3-3.5K/month. I had contacted them about competitive quals for the 73, but they called me about the 900. Right now it doesn't sound like a risk I'm willing to take for comparable pay to our rates on the 900 in ATL. (Plus QOL). Like I said, there's the carrot of bigger stuff, but there isn't a seniority system for vacancies on bigger planes. If they had a solid seniority system where you knew you could progress to 73 and/or 77 (if they ever get it), I'd probably risk the danger for average pay.
Dude, pretty sure I talked to you quite a while ago down in MEM about Polar/Atlas j/seating.

Ya that could have been me...
I also agree 3 to 3.5K a month isnt even in the ballpark of what I would be looking for to take a risk like that. I have done some limited ops in africa and ATC is terrible, most apprchs are non-prec into driving rain storms and then to a go around because a local is walking his cows down the runway.
7,500 a month minimum.
Hey I have some good info on some other jobs PM me for the info if you want.

You do get performance reviews which can increase your salary and as your Total Time increases, so does your pay. As an FO with TT 500 – 1500 = $3500USD, TT 1500 – 3000 = $4500USD, and TT > 3000 = $5500USD. When you make it to Captain you start at $8000USD. I can't believe most of you here would be between 500 - 1500 hours TT.
It's all what you make of it I guess...I just spoke to a guy who spent 6 months there, and while it's not Fantasy Island, he was able to become debt free in that short time and bring home some good scratch.

Well said, Been There!
Heed this man's advice people. There was no exaggeration or embellishment!
Do not go to Nigeria! There is a reason that you are housed in a Military Compound, with 12' concrete walls and armed guards! There is a reason that you are escorted to and from work by a Military Convoy! Disease, Civil War, Kidnapping, Rape, and Hijacking. It is not worth flying jets!

Does anyone have direct knowledge of the hiring process and flying over there? I've got a tentantive sim slot for next month, and having gone 0/50+ applications, divorced, furloughed, and broke, I'm going. I might have to be well armed, but it beats bankruptcy. And people can't call you up and ***** at you so easily when you're a world away. Seriously, do people get paid on time and traveled stateside reliably? That's all I need.

LOL. I guess it would still be better to get the AIDS from a chick then a dude tho... thats just me. No AIDS at all would be for the best.
I have read multiple threads on Nigeria and work there, as well as peoples opinions. I have never actually been there myself but there seems to be 2 general opinions.
1 being that its one big crap-shoot and to not go, otherwise you will go running home crying.
2 being that if you are careful, meet other expats there and try to enjoy your stay, you will make it. That it isnt as dangerous as people make it out with a little common sense, and an open mind.
That said, with a 2 month on and a 1 month off schedule it might be liveable, knowing that at least when you start your 2 month stretch you have that 1 month home you are constantly looking forward too.. so its not like you have nothing... all while your making decent money. (actually average money compared with the rest of the world (except the US) except its not taxed and you don't have to pay for housing etc.)

It will for the most part be what you make of it. If you are going to miss your McDonalds, and drive thru lattes, probably not a deal for you.
