Default Cathay bases

does anyone know where all of there bases are??
I have a interview coming up and due to a sudden change in my marriage relationship, I'm thinking a change would be really good right now. When/if they ask me why or where I would like to be based I'd like to have a really good idea of what I would prefer if I could chose.

Also, I know a guy back in Europe that works for them. He's based out of Frankfurt but lives in Italy. He gets a "must-go" ticket from Cathay with Lufthansa to get to work from Rome.

That only applies if they are positioning him to a port other than his base and he gets a ticket on his own from FCO to the port he is required to report to and then applies for a refund from the basings office in HKG. The refund will only be up to that amount paid for the ID50 that the company would have paid for his original positioning ticket.

CX does not buy you tickets from your home to your designated base port.

Living in the us, how hard would it be to get a base in AMS, or Oz?

Get hired and put it on your preference list. Provided it does not require additional training and there is an opening you should get it.

The way that works for him is this. He gets his own ticket and pays for it, but rather than a standby ticket he gets a must-go ticket since he has to get to work, it's some partership or so between cathay and lufthansa. That's all I know about it.

I would have thought this the case as well. However, many times on the Hacienda van in LAX I have met more than one CX Canadian that lives in YVR but commutes to LAX.

Also, I have heard that some guys on the NCA contract out of SFO are not U.S. citizens but commute from other countries.
