Indian Aviation Industry
I heard about India hiring foreign pilots to fill their pilot shortage. Then a recently read this article http://aviatorcorner.com/story.php?t...ext_five_years. Can anyone give advice in regards to seeking pilot opportunities in India as a foreigner?

You're a couple of years too late. The previous post is correct. As of this summer, no more foreign FOs are allow to fly in India, and as of 2010, no more expat pilots in commercial cockpits. At the moment, if you have 500-1,000 pic in either 777, 737, A330, 340, or A320, you can get a contract at one of the crew lease companies.

We had some of our over 60 guys go to India last year. Everyone bailed. One guy that I talked to said the conditions were not very good. He and about 5 other guys wound up flying out of Khazakstan. They are all A320 drivers.

Well, the high gas prices are hitting in India as well, and there will be a few casualties. About half the carriers have stopped hiring expats, and at least one is letting a few go.
I believe the good times in India are coming to an end. (by good times I mean a place to go if everything else failed)
