I also just received my bump letter from the 737, and the next aircraft I go to, I will be typed on. I have a choice of doing the A320 and holding a line for a little bit at my home domicile, or bidding the 757/767 out of LAX and commuting to reserve. Which is more marketable in your regarded opinions?
Having flown both airplanes at USAirways, I can tell you that both the 767 and the A320 will make you more marketable. I do not think there is a wrong choice on either.
The 767 is going to give you both wide body experience and international background. This is very attractive to recruiters
The A320 is going to give you a background in an aircraft that is WIDELY USED through out the world. Almost as much so as the 737. And the 320 gives you exposure to the Airbus design which carries into the 330 as well.
The other upside to the A320 is that you will not have to commute to LAX. But that is a minor point.
Cheers,
Walt

Thanks for the links and help guys!
To clarify a few points - I was at ACA (Atlantic Coast Airlines out of Dulles as UAX) and flew the mighty Jetstream 31 and 41.
I have a type on the 737 through UAL, but it is a useless SIC only type.
I just got a letter today from Emirates telling me I was shortlisted. I don't exactly know what that means other than I wasn't turned down. Does anyone know if it is a guaranteed interview, or just a maybe?

Finally, it doesn't seem that I can PM - I don't see an inbox or anything of the sort on my user CP.
Thanks again - and keep the info flowing! I will be sure to give back what I can when I get to where ever it is I end up.

hey guys, i figure i am in the same boat but with half the experience. i upgraded to captain on the emb145 in may and was downgraded 2 days later. so while i have my atp with a type, i never got any turbine pic experience, but i could be looking at a furlough in my near future as well. i don't really care where i work, but i would prefer not to live in asia or the middle east. should i just stay here in the states? is there anything out there worth while for me? any help is appreciated.

yeah, a friend of mine is loving Netjets Europe, and i really wanted to try it out, but the JAA conversion is too much time, effort, and money. All of which I've put too much in to this career already considering what I've got in return. best of luck to you.

Yeah - my email is [email protected] or [email protected]
Don't know why I can't be PM'ed.
I am bidding the A320 in DEN - less time on reserve before I'm furloughed, and no commuting. I hear the trips out of LAX are all HI or trans-con, so I really wouldn't get the international experience anyway. The 320 does Mexico if that counts!
Thanks for the opinions.
I also got an email from Emirates that I was shortlisted - anyone have gouge (if I hadn't already asked)?
