Are some of you folks who went to Abu Dhabi in September for the pilot assesment still waiting for the results/job offer?

I have heard anywhere from 2 weeks to 7 weeks to hear back...

I am not sure if it is a function of the background check, waiting to compare you with other applicants, backlog, or combination of all..

Still watching my mailbox with anticipation

 

did you guys go to interview for capt positions or fo. did you hear when they would be interviewing for fo.

 

When I went to the roadshow in August they had interviews filled up and scheduled into February with 2 cities to go. My understanding was no DEC's until further notice. Granted that was 3 months ago. Things can change.

 

Are they still only hiring into the A320/A319 or are they also hiring into the A330/340 and 777 as FO? I thought I read that someone was hired into the right seat of the A340 a few months back.

 

Right now and until next summer the focus is on 320 type rated drivers. The 777 drivers interviews are planned for the second half of next year.

Right now people are being hired for a pool and eventually start next spring.

Hi, wanted to throw in my 2 cents. Flew out to Abu Dhabi last week with my girlfriend that interviewed at Etihad. We flew out of JFK 12 hours going 15 coming back. Long ride! They put us in coach (non upgradeable for the canidate). I bought a zed ticket to go with. Service and aircraft ammenitys where way better than anything flying around the US right now. FA's are all young and very personable.

Out of 8 scheduled for the interview. Everybody that inverviewed was on the Airbus and will be going to Etihad as an FO in the A319/320.

While the girlfriend interviewed I checked out the town. Abu Dhabi is a cool scene. Besides the housing expense, everything else is pretty inexpensive, the food was fantastic and the culture very diverse. Also as a side note all signage is in english and aribic, so no problems getting around (also all food is also labled in english.) I am looking forward to the change of scenery/pace.

 

That's some good information and perspective. What do they say about upgrade time? Do A320/319 pilots generally move on to the A330/340 as FOs before upgrading to Captain? Lastly, would the 777 newhires likely have Boeing time vs. Airbus or RJ experience (sorta like EK)?

Good luck to your girlfriend. Seems like a lot of good growth potential in the ME. I imagine that would be quite a commute for you if you still fly that 757 in the States or Europe but live in the UAE!

 

The plan is to have the 320 FOs move to the 330 after a few months then CCQ them on the 340 after a few months on the 330. Now they are talking about having the 320 crews dual qualified on 320/330 through Mixed Fleet Flying. This should have started a little while ago but got constantly postponed. Now there are talks about starting MFF early next year.

For 777 Fos they are accepting pilots with experience on 737NG , 744 and 75/76.

Glad to hear your experience there was a good one too. Goods and services seemed to be pretty cheap there. One thing I didn't get a verdict on was tipping. On some bills there was a service fee of usually 10% added on, but one girl there told me they didn't see any of it. I tend to be over generous in those situations.
