Jetstar NZ Info
Does anybody have any info on Jetstar NZ. I may have an interview coming up. Tips for the interview and contract info would be much appreciated. And before you say look at pprune, the threads on there turned to s&#t in record time.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Did you apply before, or after to converted your licenses? I am interested in going over there for work, but as you said, PPrune has more "flame" on their website then APC. Let me know how that goes for you. I'm interested to hear what you have to say. PM me if ya want.

I took the ATPL exam and had my logbooks assessed by the NZ CAA. All I have to do is get a NZ medical and do the Check Ride which as I understand can be done as part of your airline training. At least that was the case with AirNZ not sure about Jetstar

Please don't even consider working for these guys. It's very disappointing to see a cut throat operation, such as Jetstar, trying to get a foothold in the New Zealand market. I don't think there is even enough market share available for three profitable domestic mainline carriers in New Zealand, let alone four, considering the economic storms that are brewing on the horizon. Alright, make that three carriers once Jetstar's parent, QF, makes a strategically planned exit. With launch fares ranging from as low as $1 to $29, Jetstar is New Zealand's equivalent of Go! in Hawaii. Enough said.

I guess Jet* is only paying CAPTs $50k us to fly for them.. You can make almost as much flying as a turboprop cargo captain at Ameriflight... I think they even want you to sponsor your own A320 type??? If someone knows something different, please chime in.

Not only do you have to sponsor yourself through salary sacrifice, but you have to pay to apply, for an online psychological test and, here is the iceing on the cake, you're interview. A buddy of mine at Jet Star mainline (if you can call it mainline) had to pay for his security pass.
Nobody can be blamed for going to work for these guy's though, especially in tough times. Even though we're often our worst enemy, not taking certain job's, no matter how degrading the terms, is just not an option. Perhaps it's time that the authorities and governing bodies took care of the problem. It's incredible that the wages in the "first" world are now below those in many parts of the third world.
QF is preying on pilots. Not only through the current financial situation, presented to us by their friends in the banking industry, but through pilots desire to pursue their passion. From Skybus, the regional jet operations and the Majors with what they did to their staff in the past years, to this kind of BS, the greedy industry executives and HR people continue to disgust me.
