Default Hajj flight for Orient-Thai

Hello,
I have an offer to fly the Hajj between Jakarta and Jeddah for Orient-Thai on a 4 month contract. I would like to find out more about:
Flying for Orient-Thai...
Flying the Hajj...
Living in Jakarta / Jeddah...

Just kind of looking for the good, Bad and the Ugly.
Anybody?

My experience with Orient Thai was some 6 years ago. Back then, they wanted me to fund my transportation and accommodation to Thailand. In addition, I would not be put on the payroll until the Thai DGCA approved my documents and was approved for training. And the pay then was half until training was completed. Needless to say, I turned down their generous offer. There has been some bad press and experiences with Orient Thai. You may wish post your query on PPRUNE.ORG.

Again that was some 6 years ago, and who knows… they may have become civilized to both their crews and passengers.

Anyway… good luck.

Orient Thai or 1-2-Go. . . Yikes!

Do some homework. Same as Captjns, it has been a while since I too (almost) worked for them. I have had conversations with guy's who flew both the 747 and the 757 for them and neither had anything good to say regarding the company or maintenance.

Again, this was a while ago so perhaps they have changed. If I believed everything on pprune I wouldn't be working for Great Wall, which has turned out to be a nice little outfit. But in this case it will pay to do more digging.

Their MD 80 (?) crash a few years back was no surprise to anybody.
