Negative. Citizenship is not required but Spanish is definitely a must.

You can be interviewed with minimums, thats CPL/IFR and 200TT, AND with validated license, either Chile or Peru.
But i'll say that most expat that have joined Lan have some solid experience. Quite a few from spain, i've heard some guys from Mexicana too
Locals or Pilots with citizenship are most likely to get hired with minimums.

I know a guy who was just hired without citizenship. Probably has around 1500-2000 hrs of CFI'ing. You have to speak Spanish but I know they are looking for people with as little as commercial multi mins. It may be time for Rosetta Stone for me.

Here is what’s going on with LAN.

They are hiring (and will be for some time). Their requirements:

1. Commercial multi/instrument
2. Fluent in Spanish
3. Willing to relocate to any of the countries where they have subsidiaries.

--citizenship for LANCARGO or LAN Chile is not a requirement (that is, you can be from any country). For LAN Peru, you are require to be from a country south of Colombia (pais andino). For LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador I am not sure, but I believe you must be from that country.

This is how the process looks like:
1. You’ll have to fill out the application online and say when you have the availability to go to Chile
2. You’ll have to cover all your expenses for the interview in Chile (airfare + hotel + food)- airfare is around 1,100 from the U.S, hotels are quite expensive at around 1,000 for the week. Moving there is very easy and safe, with the subway and bus.

Interview process:
• Both ATP and IFR gleim exams (both in English)
• Technical/HR interview
• 737 sim ride
• Psychological exam
Most people I know who have gone to the interview have failed (the psychological seems to be the main problem).
If you are willing to take the chance and spend the money and the week it takes to complete these exams. By all means, go for it.
