Default Funny Job Posting

Funny job posting on the orange site today. Safi Airways in Afghanistan is looking for Airbus 320 Captains and FO's. $6000 and $4000 a month respectively. That's gotta be a joke. By the way you must already be typed, current and under 55. Gosh if I were a major airline Captain on the Airbus 320 I might just be tempted to quit my job and go to a war zone. Nevermind I could find a job in China for $15,000+ a month with that experience!

Just curious who this ad could be geared to. I can go to Afghanistan at $6500 a month as a CRJ FO. Not current at that. I know King Air and Dash 8 guys that are pulling down $18,000 a month over there. Apparently the smaller the equipment, the more you get paid??

I just thought it was an interesting ad. Kinda frustrates me because I would be willing to go over there and make substandard wages in a war zone if they would at least type and train me on the equipment. Airbus 320 would be a good start.

Why are these foreign companies, who seem desperate for pilots, offer these huge compensation packages ($200K per year) for typed and current pilots? Why dont they just offer $50k per year and train you? Just trying to make sense of this.

Most have plenty of their own nationals to fill right seats. They want captains.

Some will train you in other equipment after you've been with them for a while.

Why should they pay you 50k and spend money on a type that they know you'll run away with the minute someone else offers you the real wage?

From the people I know over there flying the 'smaller' equipment, they aren't running a standard passenger/cargo airline. It isnt the equipment that makes the difference - it is the mission.

Sad thing is Im sure they have no problem filling those seats... This job opening is for people worldwide, remember there are plenty of airlines flying A320/19s that I would hardly consider major, this could actually be a pay raise for some... I've heard that a Capt at Cebu Pacific doesnt make 6000$ a month... just one example.
